Welcome to 2018!!
I would like to thank everyone in the chapter for showing enough confidence in my abilities to have me serve as your president (Again). I have served as the Young Eagles Coordinator for our chapter for many years. This has been a fun and very rewarding position. I really enjoyed serving and am looking forward to serving as your president.
I believe strongly that chapters are the heart and soul of EAA. Paul Poberezny liked to say that chapters are the "churches" of aviation, and I agree. Our chapter is a grassroots outlet for those that love aviation. It provides a way for us to share our love of aviation with like-minded people and to meet new friends. Please help make sure Chapter 976 is a welcoming place for those interested in aviation by introducing yourself to any new faces you see at meetings and functions.
I'd also like to thank the outgoing officers and leaders for their amazing talents and time put forth in leading our chapter. They have done an outstanding job in building our chapter and I will do everything I can to continue this growth.
We have an exciting year planned for 2018!
Let's all get involved, invite friends, and have fun. After all, that's what it's all about.
Fly safe, Jon
Frank looks over the sickening sight of 6 and a half years of Big Piet building looks to going down the drain. But when the EAA Chapter goes into action, anything can happen. With a couple of phone calls back to Carrollton, Robbie Ogle, Carson Ogle, Jerry Latimer and Davis Morgan grabbed some tools and trailers and drove all night to arrive at Sun n Fun at 8am the next morning. The planes were disassembled and taken back to Carrollton and Gardiner’s back to LaGrange.
